Lessons that work for everybody
Lessons are built on real skills; rhythm, coordination, technique, timing, and feel. But they’re also built around you. What you’re into, where you’re starting from, and what will actually make you want to sit down and play.No matter your interests, we’ll find a way to connect them to drumming and make the experience personal and engaging.I take the fundamentals seriously, because once those building blocks are solid, growth happens fast, and confidence does too.Whether you’ve never touched a drum kit before or you’ve been playing for years and want to reconnect with the basics, this is a place to grow without feeling boxed into a rigid curriculum. Music should feel exciting, creative, and alive.

Everybody has rhythm
Everyone has rhythm. From the steady beat of our heartbeat to the natural patterns in walking, breathing, and speaking, rhythm is something we all experience every day. Learning drums is really about discovering and developing that rhythm that already exists inside you. With practice, guidance, and a little curiosity, students learn how to listen, feel the pulse of the music, and express themselves through the drums. At Fundamental Drum Academy, the goal is to help each student unlock their natural sense of rhythm and build the confidence to play and enjoy music.
About Joshua Weh
Drummer, Father, Teacher
I’ve spent many years trying to make my brain work in ways it simply wouldn’t. I spent a long time struggling with the basics, paralyzed by the inability to focus on day-to-day things that everyone else seemed to manage effortlessly. That experience has shaped everything about the way I teach. I’m not going to pretend I know something I don’t. My playing has gaps, and there are things I’m still working through. But what I do have is an honest understanding of what it feels like to struggle, and a teaching approach built around that, not pretending it doesn’t exist.I don’t believe in rigid, cookie-cutter methods that ignore how some brains actually processes information. My lessons are built for people who are both linear learners and those need a different approach. Both are grounded in connection, patience, and my genuine love of the instrument. I break complex patterns into manageable pieces and creatively meet you exactly where you are. I may not be the best teacher for your needs, but I would love to try.If you’ve struggled to find a learning style that fits, or if you’ve felt like you’re constantly fighting your own brain just to get through learning something new, let’s connect and see if this is the right school for you. We’ll skip the hustle and focus on building your voice, in a way that respects you exactly as you are.

“I know what it’s like when your mind feels like it’s working against you, and I build my teaching around that.”
